How do you learn to dive
There are a few ways to learn to dive in Melbourne. We generally do a three day course, however you can do a four day course if you choose the traditional text book study option rather than the online theory.
The three day learn to dive course is split up below.
Home study and introduction to the Dive Shop
Study in your own time online. Your theory is done online whenever is convenient for you. Once you’ve paid a deposit, we’ll email you with a PADI e-learning access pass so you can get started right away. Once you’ve finished the online study we bring you into the shop to size up for some gear and then move onto the pool.
Into the pool! We begin at 9:00am and finish around 4:00pm.
You will practice the skills in the shallow water to get you ready for the beach.
Breathing underwater for the first time is something you’ll never forget!
Now we head to the beach doing three shore dives, going over the skills you’ve practiced in the pool and checking out what the local pier dives have to offer.
We usually use Rye, Blairgowrie or Portsea Piers to practice off the shore.
Let’s go diving off the boat! This is where you really see something special taking you to some exciting places around the bay.
The Pier dives in Melbourne are great however the boat dives are awesome! We design our courses to run from the shore and boat to give you the best experience and allow you to dive anywhere around the world after certification.
The whole course is designed for two weekends of fun and prepares you to dive after the course and join us on our club dives. The club dives are run during the week and weekends, both from shore and boat.
If you choose the four day option, all that changes is the theory part.
If you choose the PADI eLearning option (like most people do) you can save yourself a day in the classroom by studying at home. In order to do this either email or call our friendly staff and begin your theory right now at home. Once you are ready, we’ll arrange a date and time to conduct your pool training, beach and boat dives.
There are several options for learning to dive, choose the one that best suits you.
Option 1: PADI Scuba Diver Qualification $399.00
Don’t be fooled by the price, this course is designed for the person that wants to dive with a PADI professional after they finish, not independently. This course gives you qualification to dive to 12m with a guide only. Not a common course, most people do the full PADI Open Water course shown below. The PADI Open Water Course will give you knowledge and skills to dive independently anywhere around the world.
Option 2: Learn to Dive Program $699.00
Three days plus online study (online at home, then pool, shore and boat dives). On completion of this course you’ll be qualified to dive to 18m anywhere around the world. This is our most common course.
Option 3: Private Course – One on One $1729.00
This course is designed for the busy business person or if you want to do the course with your own personal Dive Instructor on the dates of your choice. This course is 3 or 4 days and once completed gives you a license to dive to 18m.
