Technical Diving - take the mystery away!
Ever heard yourself use one of the following excuses for not finding out more about technical diving?
"It's just for boys."
"I don't have enough dive gear for it."
"I can't carry twins."
"There's nothing down there."
It's time to find out the real truth about technical diving. What is technical diving and how and why do normal people get into it? Richard Taylor from TDI will be coming to the Glen Iris club night on Thursday June 28th from 7pm. He'll answer your questions and explain why the above excuses aren't valid anymore. You'll have to come up with some new ones - for a list of suggestions click here....
Here's a bio of Richard, ripped straight off the TDI website of course... Richard Taylor was a founder member of TDI/SDI Australia in 1994 & Regional Director since 1998. He has an extensive background in both technical diving/diver instruction and is an avid wreck & cave diver. He is the originator and co-convenor of the OZTeK Diving Technology Conferences and has been instrumental in bringing together Australian and International Explorers for the 1999, 2000, 2002 & 2004 Conferences.
So he's pretty cool, you'd better come and see him.
Our very own intrepid explorer Mick Whitmore will also be coming along so if you've got any questions about the SS Alert or any of the other wrecks they've found, here's your chance. (Incidentally they couldn't dive those sites without a bit of technical training!)
Also coming along will be the fabulous Chris Bojarski, for those of you who don't know Chris he's one of our PADI and IANTD Instructors. He dives a lot using a rebreather (so quiet!) and along with Sam Tomlins, is heading up the Aquatic Technical group.
As if that's not enough reasons to come, it's also a graduation night and we have many Open Water, Advanced Open Water and also Deep Cavern graduates, and Andy & Helen Higgins will be here to tell us about the recent Deep Cavern (previously Cavern Sinkhole) course. Helen will have some of the CDAA materials and clothing and stuff if you're needing any too.
As always you're most welcome to just turn up on the night! Don't worry if you don't know anyone, we'll introduce you.
