Favourite Overseas Dive Locations: Tied between Mabul, Malaysia (for Macro), and Komodo, Indonesia (for Pelagics).

Why I Love Diving: For me, it’s the people who make scuba diving, and working in this industry, so special.  I don’t know of anywhere else where people from all cultures, nationalities and walks-of-life get together so easily to share a common passion.  Combine that with all the amazing things there are to see underwater and it’s a pretty perfect activity.

Best Local Dive Site: Sanctum Reef

Best Overseas Dive Site: Oite Destroyer, Truk Lagoon, Micronesia

Why I Love Diving: I started diving with the British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC) while I was at uni in the UK. Most of my early dive experiences were conducted in murky quarries, where if you arrived too early you had to break the ice to get into the water. It was all fun and games though and I was a recreational diver for many years before deciding to take the step into professional diving. Some of my favourite overseas dive experiences were a live aboard in the Red Sea, pretty much every single wreck dive in Truk Lagoon, and of course the beautiful Great Barrier Reef in Queensland! After a few years as an I.T. Consultant I decided to take a career break to advance my diving, so I lived on Koh Phi Phi in Thailand for six months to train and work as a Divemaster. While I was there I developed a love for wreck diving, so Melbourne – with its extensive Ships’ Graveyard – was the logical location to train and work as an instructor. Since arriving in Melbourne, in addition to the fantastic array of wrecks, I have been introduced to cave diving through the CDAA which has opened up a whole new world of dive sites in the amazing crystal clear freshwater caves of Mt Gambier. And most recently I have got into closed circuit rebreather diving which enables divers to stay even longer on the dives sites they love. That’s the best thing about diving… there is always more to discover and you never stop learning!

Best Local Dive Site: The Pioneer Wreck

Best Overseas Dive Site: Oite Wreck in Truk Lagoon

Why I Love Diving: I started diving in 2003. Most weekends you will find me down the peninsula diving all year round. Melbourne is one of my favourite places to dive. We have awesome wall dives with amazing soft corals and very pretty sponge gardens. My passion is wreck diving and we are very fortunate here in Victoria to have the ships grave yard with dozens of dive sites for all levels of diver. Some of my favourite dives sites here are The Pioneer, the J-class submarines and also Hanging Gardens. Also love sea food and hunting for crays. I look forward to overseas trips, my favourites are Dahab Red Sea and Truk lagoon.

Best Local Dive Site: The Zoo

Best Overseas Dive Site: Palau or Vanuatu – Coolidge

Why I Love Diving: I have been diving for 15 years. I like the adventure of the unknown especially ship wrecks, caverns and caves. I first got into diving at the Melbourne Aquarium – Dive with Sharks. Two days later I had booked in to do an open water course.
