Why I Love Diving:
After watching episodes of Jacques’ Cousteau and his incredible frogmen I decided at a very young age I wanted to be part of the underwater world. I enrolled in my Open Water course in the late 1980’s and have now been diving for over 20 years. I went down the professional path as an instructor much later in my diving career and have never looked back. My reward in teaching is seeing smiles from students who I take on their fist dive. I hope to pass on my passion for diving to all my students. I developed a lust for rust pretty much from my open water course onwards. Having participated in Heritage Victoria fieldworks such as corrosion research on the City of Launceston, I can also be found in my spare time planning and executing technical wreck dives or chasing a crayfish around the back beach. I have planned several overseas dive trips to remote dive sites, allowing access to some spectacular wrecks such as the Mikhail Lermontov in New Zealand. Come and share in my passion for diving.

Why I Love Diving:
I started diving with the British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC) while I was at uni in the UK. Most of my early dive experiences were conducted in murky quarries, where if you arrived too early you had to break the ice to get into the water. It was all fun and games though and I was a recreational diver for many years before deciding to take the step into professional diving. Some of my favourite overseas dive experiences were a live aboard in the Red Sea, pretty much every single wreck dive in Truk Lagoon, and of course the beautiful Great Barrier Reef in Queensland! After a few years as an I.T. Consultant I decided to take a career break to advance my diving, so I lived on Koh Phi Phi in Thailand for six months to train and work as a Divemaster. While I was there I developed a love for wreck diving, so Melbourne – with its extensive Ships’ Graveyard – was the logical location to train and work as an instructor. Since arriving in Melbourne, in addition to the fantastic array of wrecks, I have been introduced to cave diving through the CDAA which has opened up a whole new world of dive sites in the amazing crystal clear freshwater caves of Mt Gambier. And most recently I have got into closed circuit rebreather diving which enables divers to stay even longer on the dives sites they love. That’s the best thing about diving… there is always more to discover and you never stop learning!

Why I Love Diving:
I started diving in the early eighties and fell in love with the underwater world. My passion for shipwrecks soon followed becoming a member of the Maritime Archaeology Association and assisting Heritage on many projects also completing AIMA NAS training to learn more about them. Having been involved with the research and finding of many shipwrecks in and around Victoria nothing can compare to the thrill of diving on a wreck that hasn’t been picked over with everything still in situ. I really love sharing my passion for diving teaching from open water right through to CCR, if you want to find me I will be in the water somewhere including leading the Wednesday night dive which I have done for the last 15 or so years.

See you in the water somewhere!

Come to the shop and pick up a copy of my book ” Victorian Ships Graveyard”

Why I Love Diving:
I started scuba diving in 2006 and am really enjoying it so far. I have been fortunate enough to be surrounded by some extremely experienced divers. These experienced divers have assisted me immensely which has allowed me to improve my diving techniques and profile. While I am improving I enjoy passing on the knowledge and the skills I have been taught to others that are interested in going deeper for longer. To me nothing is more exciting than seeing marine life swimming around and looking at you. One day I would like to see some whales but in the meantime I am out and about diving under piers, assisting on diving courses, filling tanks in the shop and doing the odd boat dive. If you have not dived in a while and want to get back into the water or maybe you are interested in doing another course then I could help you out as I am probably getting ready to do the course or have just done it. I hope to see you having fun in the water.

Why I Love Diving: I began diving in 1992 in New Zealand and have always been drawn to the sea, having since progressed through courses more recently 2012 I completed my TDI Extended Range course. I dive as often as I can and am always interested in diving shipwrecks of all types . Most Saturdays I lead dives for the club where new and seasoned divers can come to tune there skills or simply have a fun dive ( check out our facebook page for details ) I enjoy the social aspects of diving and always look forward to meeting new divers.
