Learn the skills to deal with dive emergencies
Scuba divers describe the PADI Rescue Diver course as the most challenging, yet most rewarding course they’ve ever taken.
Why? Because you learn to prevent and manage problems in the water, and become more confident in your skills as a diver, knowing that you can help others if needed.
During the course, you learn to become a better buddy by practicing problem solving skills until they become second nature. Plus, the course is just fun – it’s serious, but still allows for lots of laughter in between the focused learning.
THEORY - PADI's eLearning Online program is designed so that you can learn the academics at your own pace when it is convenient for you. You complete the academic section of your course online, however your Instructor will be happy to help you with any theory based questions you may have.
SKILLS PRACTICE - The first dives of your PADI Rescue Diver course are where you will practice all the skills and techniques used in diver rescues. You will have the opportunity to try out different techniques, and work out what methods work best for you as a rescuer.
SCENARIOS - The second in-water day of your PADI Rescue Diver course is centred around putting what you learned in your Skills Practice sessions into use in the ocean, tackling various scenarios where there are divers who need your help.
Minimum age to take the PADI Rescue Diver course in Australia is 12years old.
PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent) is required to enrol in the Rescue Diver course
You must hold a current First Aid certificate to enroll in the PADI Rescue Diver course - see your options for getting your First Aid cert. by clicking HERE
Review the PADI Medical Statement, which can be found here and if required, get a Diving Medical to ensure you are safe to dive.
For the Rescue Diver course, Scuba Equipment hire is not included in the cost of the course, and if needed will be an additional $90/day. You must have your own personal snorkelling equipment: mask, snorkel, fins, boots, as these items are not included in gear rental.
A pocket mask, for use in emergencies, is also required equipment for the PADI Rescue Diver course - we sell these in our Rowville store.

Theory Review Evening - normally held on a Thursday from 6pm-9pm prior to the course starting.
In-Water Day 1 - held the following Saturday, starting at 9am, we prefer to run these sessions at a local public swimming pool, where students can learn their Rescue skills without having to deal with currents or cold temperatures.
In-Water Day 2 - held the next day, on the Sunday, normally down on the Mornington Peninsula, during the second in-water day we revisit the skills learned the previous day, adjusting them for ocean conditions, before tackling the qualification scenarios.
Please note: 4 students are required for the course to run
